Project I

For this project, I was grouped with several other students to create a video game prototype using Unreal Engine. I was tasked with handling the level design, and many of the necessary gameplay features within the level.

After creating the initial project with my teammates, I decided to further enhance this game prototype. I started by creating an entirely new level, with free assets that I have the requisite rights to use. Next, I polished the bridge collapse level-mechanic, to fit into the new level design. Lastly, I incorporated two cameras and a camera shake to add a more immersive experience to the scene.
My goal for this project was to create a more cohesive and presentable project to showcase my skills in a professional manner.

Project II

When developing this project, I created the gameplay mechanics and the overall prototype using Unreal Engine. I wanted to develop a game where the player would have a limited amount of time to search for treasure within a designated location.

After conception, I added a new player character, a pickaxe, and new animations to present a character that would fit the scene. Also, I designed a level for the player to search for treasure within a cave setting. The development of this prototype provided me with insight into how to create gameplay mechanics that require the player to interact with the UI on-screen.

Project III

With this project, I created something completely original, and it was not based on any previous game development work that I wanted to expand upon. I decided that incorporating the animation that I created in an academic class into one of my game prototypes would be a beneficial experience.

So, I created a level that resembles a spaceship, or space station that the player would walk through until they reached a control panel. After reaching the control panel the player would trigger an in-game event that would start playing the animation that I created in my animation class.

This game prototype has helped me expand my knowledge of gameplay programming. I was able to play a video within Unreal Engine at runtime, while enhancing my knowledge of effectively using cameras in a game scene. This project was fun to create, and I enjoyed adding my own 2D animation into a game prototype.
